You will find a discussion of the “Core Competencies for a New Vision for Health Professions Education” in your readings this week (Rubenfeld & Scheffer, 2015, Box 4-1 p. 86). Review these core competencies and write a 2-3-page paper (excluding title page and reference page) that includes:
- a discussion of how these core competencies relate to your particular area of nursing practice.
I work in a chemotherapy infusion center, and provide care to a wide variety of patients and a wide variety of treatments. All of them with different needs. We also collaborate and coordinate with other departments in the hospital (radiology, OR, nuclear medicine, social workers). Definitely employ evidenced based practice.

We provide excellent patient centered care. Cancer patients are all unique and we identify, respect their different values needs, and care accordingly. By providing private rooms when needed, Different therapies, translators for non-English speaking patients. Also different ways of education material.
I would say we could improve in the communication department among clinics, different departments, and management. In the sense that some clinics do not communicate with other clinics. as far as management goes, I have always noticed that management is not completely aware of what actually happens on the floor, direct patient care. They seem to be more focused on the numbers.
