2. Introduction (150 words)
This should contain a motivation and rationale for the research, and a clear statement of purpose or aim clarifying the gap that you will be addressing. Thus, include here:
a description of your research topic
why it is important enough to research, i.e., motivation and rationale
a clear statement of the research aim or purpose
3. Literature review (800 words)
The review provides the foundation for your research and shows how your proposedresearch fits within the context of similar research done to date. Include here:
The scope of the review, outlining how it unfolds (in a couple of sentences)
Key concepts that are applicable to the topic and explained using academic sources
Compare and contrast past research of these concepts
This should be a critical analysis, and not a list of references with brief descriptions. The review should identify he gaps or limitations in the past research, as well as differences[…]”
“may use research objectives AND/OR research questions. If you choose to use both objectives and questions, make sure that you have not simply converted an objective into a question, or vice versa. You may include hypotheses but ONLY if it is pertinent to the sort of research that you propose to do. Include here:
Introductory statement that connects the previous section to this one
1-3 questions succinctly presented
The questions must be related directly to research gaps discussed in the literature review and also to the stated aim/purpose of the research. Questions are formulated as interrogative sentences that may start typically (but not exclusively) with Who, What, Where, When, Why, or How and will end with a question mark.
“4. Research questions (150 words)
A very good proposal will identify gaps which are then converted into specific research questions. You may use research objectives AND/OR research questions. If you choose to use both objectives and questions, make sure that you have not simply converted an objective into a question, or vice versa. You may include hypotheses but ONLY if it is pertinent to the sort of research that you propose to do. Include here:

The design and its methods;
For each method, explain how it will be implemented including
potential participants (and sampling if applicable) and how they will be recruited (if applicable);
the interventions, e.g., interviews, questionnaires, i.e., the sort of data that will be collected
how the data will be analysed;
Limitations or risks;
Ethical issues regarding the proposed research.
“6. Conclusion (100 words)
Briefly summarise the essence of this proposal and what its key contribution will be. For example, if this was submitted to a funding organisation, this last message needs to be convincing. Include:
a brief summary of the proposal in one or two sentences
the key contribution expected from the research.
8. References
The references must be
Sufficient for the task
Accurate
From mostly refereed sources
In alphabetical order by first author using the Harvard style (which is the standard for the Management School).
The word counts are the maximum for each section.”
Objectives of the Proposal
“The objectives of this coursework is to to assess whether you can apply the knowledge and skills learned in this module to produce a research proposal. This may be for your dissertation or other project of similar scope. Doing this work will assess whether you
understand what makes a good researchable research problem;
can write a literature review to support the needed research;
can develop an appropriate research design, including appropriate methods for data collection and analysis
can demonstrate an understanding of the ethical management of participants and their data.”
