ANALYZE YOUR RELATIONSHIP
Q1) DIRECTIONS: Analyze one of your most important relationships. Begin by identifying the individual and briefly describing the relationship. Then use the principles in the chapters to analyze this relationship. Use the 2 questions below to help you analyze the relationship. It can be one that is just beginning.
1)Consider the variables of why we form relationships (attraction, similarity, complementarity, proximity, etc.). How did these variables function in the beginning of your relationships? How do the variables function now that you have a more established relationship?
2)Discuss your relationship in terms of Knapp’s 10 Stages of Relational Interaction (Chapter 7.1) How did you move from one stage to another? Where are you now? What tells you this
Q 2)In your Reading #9 (7.1 section talks about Knapp’s Theory of 10 Stages of Relationships) This video is a good example of the 10 Stages. I believe this might have been a student’s presentation, but it includes all the important elements, plus it includes some good film examples throughout, all in about 8 minutes.
