Discussion: Application to Professional Practice

Throughout the course, you worked together with your interprofessional team to create a collaborative project. This experience was, no doubt, met with both success and challenges. As you reflect upon this experience and consider how your team addressed different conflicts, consider how the different situations could have impacted patient safety and quality of care. When you place the patient in the situation, would you have done anything differently? Also, as a healthcare professional, what can you take from this experience and apply to your practice?

To prepare:

• Review the Learning Resources on conflict resolution.
• Consider all of your Journal Assignment posts and reflect upon the experience of working as an interprofessional team.
• Select one conflict experienced by your team to address.
• Do not include names in interpersonal conflicts, if they occurred.

By Day 4

Post a comprehensive response to the following:

• Summarize one issue that your interprofessional team experienced.
• How did your team resolve the issue?
• How would this conflict have affected patient care?
• What could your team have done differently to lessen the impact to the patient?
• Describe any lessons that you may have learned from this Team Project.
