The difference in the distribution of public health messages: Community vs. Policymakers
The message I would send to the affected community needs to demonstrated understanding and show that we care about their wellbeing, and we want to help, and that we will fight for justice and strive to improve the health of the community that was affected by this public health crisis. It is also important that we tailor the message with transparency on what we are planning to do to help the community, such as providing free water filters and bottle waters and provide free healthcare to all that was affected. however, the message that I would send to policymakers is one that would show that they dropped the ball and let down this community and that their lives and the outcome of their health are all on their hand. This will make the policymakers feel responsible for the actions that were not taken to prevent these issues by the community’s officials and leaders. Therefore, this message would motivate the policymakers to use all the resources and power at hand to fix the issues and improve the lives of this community and prevent these issues from occurring in the future for all communities in the U.S. (Greenberg et al., 2016).
Factors to consider in order to provide ethical, timely communication, and special considerations that need to be made in order to communicate with the audiences effectively
There are various factors that I would consider in order to provide ethical, timely communication, and special consideration when communicating with the community that is affected. For instance, timing is very crucial, meaning we need to respond immediately when the crisis occurs to prevent further health deterioration, along with providing support and comfort to those affected. Furthermore, we need to take into consideration that the community residents are angry and frustrated with the health issues so they will be unwilling to accept help and might lash out at those who are trying to help. Therefore, we must be patient, resistant, and understanding as we try to foster a trusting relationship with this affected community. However, the factor I would consider when communicating with policymakers is the sense of urgency to control and stop the crisis. I would also elaborate on the financial factors of what it would cost the government if these issues is not dealt with in a timely fashion. Also, I would use medical data on the effect of lead poisoning on public health and how it can affect the community in the future (Greenberg et al., 2016).
