Blood is a fluid type of connective tissue that functions to carry nutrients, oxygen, wastes, and hormones throughout the body while helping your immune system and forming clots to prevent excessive bleeding. Blood is necessary for our physical life to continue and is also necessary for our eternal life. The Bible explains life blood had to be spilled in order that sin be expiated (covered). This means that sin had to be dealt with, or “paid for” (atoned), by the sacrifice of life; for someone to live, something must die.
According to Leviticus 17:11, life is in the blood.
