As we know, at the federal level of government, there is no direct democracy. The people elect their representatives, and then those people make the laws.
As we now also know, at the California state level, we have direct democracy, in the form of the initiative, the referendum, and the recall.
Do you believe direct democracy is appropriate? What are some of the positive elements of it, what are some drawbacks? Is California better or worse off because of it? Please explain your reasoning.
