1. “Cultural Globalisation is leading to the loss of the world’s cultural diversity.”
To what extent do you agree with this statement? You may wish to explore the
following reasons to support (or not) this statement: the process of cultural
homogenization or Americanisation of cultural elements around the world;
governments’ attempts to protect and promote their national culture; cultural
hybridization; and/or two-way cultural exchanges. You may focus on one cultural
element (e.g., food, music, architecture) or choose examples from a variety of
elements but you should provide examples from more than country.
2. “Global Governance solutions to environmental problems are likely to fail”. To
what extent do you agree with this statement? You may wish to explore the
following reasons for supporting (or not) this statement: the economic gains (for TNCs
and/or States) of global trade that are damaging the environment; the interests of
dominant States; and the role of epistemic communities and transnational social
movements in finding global solutions to environmental problems. You may give
