Most people think about moral values, distinguishing the different right and wrong when it comes to ethics. However, ethics is a norm to know the difference between unacceptable or acceptable behavior. Bellman (2012) points that Scientific and Action research deals with ethical challenges in their studies, such as: ensuring informed consent, honesty, and integrity, the prevention of harm, maintaining confidentiality, providing informed consent, and the right to withdraw from the research project or treatment. Whereas, McNiff (2017) explained the supplemented guidelines of the “6/C “: compassion, competence, communication, courage, and commitment. These C’s implement the action research the help with Homeless teens are a complex population to study due to their transient lifestyle, lack of consistent contact information, and inability to identify themselves as homeless. Whereas Action research is one of the valuable types of reassuring that cover information needed for outreach. The homeless youth usually make independent choices daily with a parental guardian that makes decisions.

The ethical standards of concern for Action Research on Teen Homeless are (a) informed consent and (b) anonymity and confidentiality. Informed consent – give permission granted knowledge of the possible consequences, typically that which a patient presents to a doctor for treatment with the complete understanding of the potential risks and benefits. Anonymity and confidentiality – refer to a condition in which the research knows the identity of the research subject and takes steps to protect that identity from being discovered by others. Whereas, Anonymity is a condition in which the identity of an individual is established to researchers.

Ethical procedures are an important part of all research, and have rules and regulations covering the conduct of research. This arises because researchers  in the past have engaged in forms of inquiry that have put participants at risk, by carelessly revealing information that put them in situations that are harmful (Stringer, 2014).  Researchers have a “duty of care” and need to take specific steps to ensure that participants come to no harm as a result of their participation in the research project, the process known as informed consent (Stringer, 2014). As such, the success of action research depends on attending to all aspects of ethical conduct and behavior.  As professionals, one must seek to obtain permission to complete the research and resolve to keep all parties informed throughout the process (McNiff, 2016).

Based on this learner’s research project addressing teen homelessness, the Ethical Standards for Human Service Professionals by the National Organization of Human Services (NOHS) that will be utilized include Standard 12 and Standard 13.  Accordingly, Standard 12 states, “Human service professionals are aware of local, state, and federal laws.  They advocate for change in regulations and statutes when legislation conflicts with ethical guidelines and/or client rights” (NOHS, 2015).  Standard 13 states, “Human service professionals stay informed about current social issues as they affect clients and communities. If appropriate to the helping relationship, they share this information with clients, groups and communities as part of their work” (NOHS, 2015).

Informed consent and issues of confidentiality are primary ethical concerns when collecting data.  All participants must know the nature of their participations and the potential risks and benefits involved.  Unfortunately, personal information collected may be damaging to either individuals or a community if disclosed to others including stigma attached to mental illness, sexual taboos, etc. (Emanuel, Wendler, & Grady, 2000).  To decrease any ethical risks that may surface, one must be able to assure participants that all information collected will be protected and, where appropriate, will not be linked to an individual or community group.  Depending on the research topic, participation itself may have to be treated in a confidential manner (Emanuel, et. al., 2000).        

Below you will briefly describe a previous, or current, relationship for each of the stages found in Knapp’s Model of Relational Development from Chapter 8 located in the “Modules Section”. The relationship you choose could be an acquaintance, co-worker, family member, friend, or romantic partner. You may also choose a different relationship for each stage; you don’t have to use the same one for all of them.

Your responses don’t need to be lengthy. They can be a few sentences or so. An example would be: “Stage 2: Experimenting – My wife and I were in the experimenting stage years ago when we first met. I remember getting to know each other and trying to find out what common interests we had. It was exciting and a bit nerve-racking, but in the end it was a good stage for us.”

In the case Lange v. California, if I was a Supreme Court Justice I  would vote to affirm the judgment of conviction against Lange.  The  exigent circumstance procedure says that it allows law enforcement to  entry, “under certain circumstances that would cause a reasonable person  to believe that entry was necessary to prevent physical harm to the  officers or other persons, the destruction of relevant evidence, the  escape of the suspect, or some other consequences improperly frustrating  legitimate law enforcement efforts.”  This is the exception to the  requirement of a warrant under the Fourth Amendment which states that  protects against unreasonable searches and seizures.

The exception to the Fourth Amendment does not specify if it  matters if the violation is a misdemeanor or not so I think that it  another reason the conviction should stay.  Kavanaugh made a good point  that whether it is a misdemeanor or not should not matter, because “the  fact that the suspect’s flight is itself an exigency.”   I agree with that comment because then everyone would evade the police  if they knew as soon as they arrived home they were free from any crime  they did as long as they did not get caught. Another point made by  Roberts stated that once a suspect flees into their home police are  really the ones  “in a dangerous situation.”

If Lange was not under the influence, would he be so offended that  the officer went into his home? He broke the law first by refusing to  stop.

You have explored different resilience-oriented assessments and interventions that can be used once the assessments have been completed. In this Assignment, you will have the opportunity to develop a fictional case study and then use a specific resilience-oriented assessment, a relational genogram, to map the relationships of the fictional family and then identify evidenced-based interventions that can be used with either individuals or the family unit in the fictional case study.

• Develop a fictional case study that details a specific crisis event. The case study must include information about family relationships.
• Using the Genogram Template, complete the genogram using the fictional case study you developed in above and insert a copy of the genogram in your paper.
