Policymaking occurs in organizations and governments. How policies are made, approved and enforced can vary depending on the entity and those making the decisions. It is important to understand how policy-making works, and in this assignment you share what you have learned and provide examples.
Write a 700- to 1,050-word paper, describing your personal perception of policymaking in criminal justice. Identify any assumptions on which your perceptions are based. Be sure to answer the following questions:

Gary, who is nineteen years old, makes the following statement to his friend Ron, who is sixteen years old: “I hereby offer to pay you $10,000 if you don’t smoke any Marijuana for the next six months.” Ron then responded to Gary’s comment by saying “I accept.” This exchange took place in the state of Indiana where Gary and Ron both reside. In the state of Indiana (and also under federal law), it is illegal to possess or consume marijuana. The age of majority in Indiana is 18. After agreeing to Gary’s terms, Ron successfully refrains from smoking marijuana for the specified period. Upon doing so, Ron calls Gary and says “I did it! Now pay up!” Gary refused to pay. Now Ron is considering filing a lawsuit against Gary for breach of contract.

This week, we’ll be examining how our legal system protects persons who are injured by the purposeful act of another. These types of injuries are called intentional torts. The legal claims of assault, battery, false imprisonment, invasion of privacy, and defamation are examples of intentional torts.

For this discussion, choose one of the scenarios listed below and determine the intentional tort that you think applies. 2) Peter Plaintiff’s son is killed while working overseas for a United States corporation that deals in proprietary petroleum extraction and production.  Peter Plaintiff brings a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of his son’s estate against this corporation and requests a wide scope of business documents related to the corporation and its overseas operations under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).  What defenses, if any, does the corporation have against revealing the requested information under the FOIA?

You will be reviewing and critiquing an article. You are to choose ONE article from the folder titled,
“Article Choices.” There are four articles to choose from. Choose an article that you feel comfortable
with and think you can write about.
Your critique should include an overview of the research question, methodology, and critique of
internal and external validity as well as measurement issues. As a guide, your paper should include
the information in the document, “Final Paper Handout and Rubric.” Please format your paper with
the major headings included in the “Final Paper Handout and Rubric” (e.g., Sampling) and include
all of the relevant information within each section. Failure to adhere to formatting guidelines will
result in a 10 point deduction.

experience, the material cannot be properly addressed in less than 5 pages. Keep in mind that I not
only want you to provide me with the design and critique, but provide an explanation. For example, it
is not enough to say, “This paper is an example of deductive reasoning.” Rather, you must explain
why it is an example of deductive reasoning.
